APPEL À CANDIDATURES : BOURSES DE RECHERCHE 2024

La Section Française de la Direction des Antiquités du Soudan (SFDAS), dont les activités sont temporairement coordonnées depuis Le Caire, lance un appel à candidatures exceptionnel pour des bourses de recherche destinées aux étudiants de master et doctorat, et aux chercheurs qui mènent des recherches en archéologie, histoire et anthropologie sur le Soudan au cours de l’année 2024. Il s’agit de bourses attribuées à des chercheurs basés en Égypte, au Soudan et dans les pays avoisinants.

EMERGENCY RESEARCH GRANTS

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: 2024 RESEARCH GRANTS

The French Unit of Archaeology in Sudan (Section Française de la Direction des Antiquités du Soudan – SFDAS), whose activities are temporarily coordinated from Cairo, launches an exceptional call for applications for research grants for graduate students (PhD and Master students) and researchers who conduct research in archaeology, history and anthropology on Sudan during the year 2024. These are grants awarded to researchers based in Egypt, in Sudan or any neighbouring countries.

Priority will be given to studies on ancient Sudan and should suit with at least one of our scientific themes of research:

• Archaeology
• History
• Anthropology
• Museology

Grant Information

Grantees will become associated researchers SFDAS until the end of 2024. They will be requested to provide a final report (5000 words). They might also be offered the opportunity to present the results of their work during the SFDAS seminars and conferences.

Grants offered are not subject to taxes, and do not include open rights to social security. They are awarded as contributions towards actual research costs.

The scientific interest, feasibility and relevance of the project, the applicant’s ability to implement it, its innovative dimension, the suitability of the budget, possible co-funding sources, and the academic value (degree, scientific publication, data collection within a larger project…) will be criteria for evaluation and selection of application by a scientific committee.

The amount of the grant is set at the equivalent of 1 000 euros. The grant beneficiary will receive 70% of the grant at the signature of the grant contract. The beneficiary will receive the remaining payment when the final report is submitted to the SFDAS coordinator – Séverine MARCHI – and after validation by the scientific committee.

How to apply

Applications can be written in French or in English. Interested applicants will send an email to khartoum.sfdas@gmail.com with the following documents:

• a complete CV
• a research project (3 pages maximum), describing the research topic, indicating briefly how the grant will be used (fieldwork cost, editing and publishing of an article, transportation costs…) and including a short bibliography.
